Incubator Game Changer – Thank You Network Tasman Trust

Once again the Network Tasman Trust Community Grant has supported our conservation efforts by funding an essential new piece of kit – a portable incubator!

Since its purchase in November it has been mobilized for several emergency uplifts of starving fledglings and chicks.  Seriously underweight, weak and not fully waterproof they quickly become hypothermic in the water.  Thankfully a number were observed washed up on beaches by the public and notified to the DOC Hotline or the Penguin Trust for rescue.  The portable incubator helped to warm them during their transfer to the rehab clinic for treatment.

As well as the mobile incubator the Network Tasman Trust Community Grant contributed to essential consumables for the rehab clinic, specifically free flow frozen anchovies for the rescued fledgings and chicks.
