Let’s Keep Our Beaches Safe for Our Wildlife
Keeping our local beach habitat safe for our wildlife should be a priority for everyone. We all love our play time at a gorgeous beach, but for some of our native species, the beaches are home.
From a conservation point of view it doesn’t make sense to have predator species sharing the same space as our protected native species - like little penguins/korora.
As habitat areas are challenged by ever-increasing residential development along out coastline, measures need to be implemented to protect our wildlife.
With residential development comes more disturbance by humans and their pets, especially dogs and cats, both of which predate on little penguins, weka and other native, ground-dwelling species.
